James taking break from social media, citing negativity in sports coverage

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer reposed a post from Kevin Durant’s agent, Rich Kleiman. This post covered how media has spread negativity. Lakers shared one more tweet on the X (Twitter) and announced the break from social media. James has 159 million followers on Instagram, and 52.9 million on X.

“We can all acknowledge that sports is the last part of society that universally brings people together. So why can’t the coverage do the same?” Kleiman wrote on the post. “It’s only click bait when you say it. When the platform is so big, you can make the change and allow us all an escape from real life negativity. I for one find it all a waste of breath.”

Kleiman’s post covered the notes from LeBron James and Lakers’ head coach JJ Redick’s podcast as “the future of what his can and should all be.” James then said he’s “getting off social media for the time being.”
