Yanni Gourde and Joey Daccord Sidelined with Injuries for Kraken

Kraken face challenges as Yanni Gourde (lower-body injury) and Joey Daccord (upper-body injury) are sidelined after participating in morning skates.

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde was absent from last night’s match versus the Edmonton Oilers due to a reported lower-body injury. Gourde missed practice on Friday for what was labeled a “maintenance day,” but participated in the morning skate with the Kraken yesterday.

The injury might raise concerns since the 33-year-old missed time in December due to a lower-body issue. The two-time Stanley Cup champion has been resilient throughout his ten-year career, missing only a few dozen games.

Gourde has consistently been a dependable scorer off the bench during his NHL tenure, yet he has never managed to regain his scoring prowess from his initial complete NHL season, in which he recorded 25 goals and 39 assists over 82 games. This season, the native of Saint-Narcisse, Quebec, has tallied six goals and 10 assists over 35 games.

Kraken goalkeeper Joey Daccord was also absent from last night’s match due to an upper-body injury that keeps him sidelined (according to Kraken producer Scott Malone). Similar to Gourde, Daccord participated in yesterday’s morning skate but is not yet prepared to make a comeback. The 28-year-old has not participated in a game since December 22nd and was defeated in his last four outings before sustaining his injury.

Despite some recent difficulties, Daccord has performed well this season for Seattle, placing 11th in the NHL with a goals saved above expected total of 9.3 (according to Money Puck) and holding a record of 12-9-2.
