New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter reacts to the Yankees ending their 50-year no-beard policy.

Mariano Rivera shaved. Bernie Williams shaved. Derek Jeter shaved. So did Alex Rodriguez. But Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton won’t have to anymore.

After nearly 50 years, the Yankees scrapped their no-beard policy on Friday, allowing players and staff to grow facial hair – as long as it’s “well-groomed.” And Derek Jeter, who spent 20 seasons clean-shaven, is already thinking about what could have been.

The former Yankees captain took to Instagram, posting a photoshopped image of himself in pinstripes with a full beard. If you’ve seen Jeter’s baby face day in and day out, the look was… different.

“New rules!” he captioned it.

His sister, Sharlee, wasn’t holding back: “You look like Dad! Hahaha.”

CC Sabathia simply resonated what every Yankees fan thought: “MY CAPTAIN!!”

Even former MLB pro-turned-broadcaster Jerry Hairston Jr. approved: “Not gonna hate. This looks good!”

George Steinbrenner introduced the Yankees’ strict grooming policy in 1976, believing in a disciplined, military-like appearance. But Hal Steinbrenner, who made the change, admitted the rule had become “outdated” and “somewhat unreasonable.”

The Empire State Building’s official X account joined in, sharing a photo of the landmark with a bearded makeover of its own.
