WNBA superstar's brother is set to enter the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers signed WNBA star Angel Reese’s brother Julian Reese to their Summer League team this summer. Reese spent four years at Maryland before he went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft. While there is no official confirmation from the Los Angeles Lakers about signing Reese, the University of Maryland congratulated him and revealed the news on social media.

The 21-year-old will now join the Lakers’ Summer League roster, which is most likely to include Bronny James and Dalton Knecht. The Lakers will play their first game on July 10 against the Dallas Mavericks. For the Mavs, the first overall pick, Cooper Flagg will also face the Celtics, Clippers, and Pelicans.

Who is Julian Reese? Brother of WNBA Superstar Angel Reese

Julian Reese played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins, and in his freshman season, he averaged 5.7 points, and 4.4 rebounds. Ahead of the 2022-23 season, Reese became a full-time starter for his team, and finished the season at an average of 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. Owing to his performance, Reese earned an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.

His performance improved in the following season as he recorded 13.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg, and 1.9 bpg. These stats earned him another all-Big Ten honorable mention. Overall, he played in 134 games, starting in 102 of them, and posted a career average of 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. Not only this, but he also became the second player in the history of the program to record at least 1,000 points (1,488) and 1,000 rebounds (1,015).

Standing tall at 6-foot-9, and weighing 252 pounds, Reese’s frame and versatility on the court makes him a potential fit for the Lakers. He can defend positions and even fill the small-ball center role, adding value for the Gold and Purple brigade.
