William Saliba Contract Update- French Centre-Back Shows Commitment to Arsenal Amidst Interest From Real Madrid

Arsenal defender William Saliba reaffirms his commitment to the club despite speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

William Saliba has put doubts about his future at Arsenal to rest by reaffirming his commitment to the club. There have been several reports of interest from Real Madrid, but the 23-year-old centre-back has assured that he has no immediate plans to leave. He stated his desire to win trophies with the Gunners.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven, Saliba confirmed that contract extension talks with the Gunners are yet to begin. However, he expressed no urgency regarding his future, as his current deal runs until 2027.

Saliba said, “Not yet, because there are some years (left), so there is no rush at the minute. I’m happy here, that’s it. I want to win big things with Arsenal. If you leave this club without winning anything, the fans will forget about you. I want to win big things here.”

Real Madrid Interest and Future Goals

Real Madrid have been monitoring Saliba’s situation. They consider him a potential long-term addition to their defense. However, the French defender seems focused on his goals at Arsenal, where he has played a crucial role under Mikel Arteta at the backline. He has also formed a reliable defensive partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes.

The two of them have contributed to Arsenal’s impressive defensive record this season. Saliba, who has made 121 appearances for the club so far, also spoke about his aspirations to become the world’s best defender and it’s clear he wants to achieve that while staying in London.

Saliba said, “I want to be one day the best defender in the world. I know I have to work a lot and to win trophies as well — but that’s my dream.”

He acknowledged that he has room for improvement while praising his defensive partner Gabriel, saying, “I have to watch especially my partner, Gabriel, who has been so, so good this season.”

Arsenal have been struggling in the Premier League title race this season but they are still strong contenders in the Champions League. With a commanding 7-1 lead over PSV in the UCL round of 16 first leg match, Saliba and his teammates are focused on securing European silverware.
