Will Landon Dickerson Play in the Eagles’ Season Opener – Latest Injury Update on Eagles Guard

Devavrat Kulkarni

The Philadelphia Eagles and their fanbase are holding their breath as they still wait for conclusive news on left guard Landon Dickerson’s injury. The 3-time Pro Bowler went down during the Eagles’ practice session on Sunday night and had to be helped off the field as he was carted back to the locker room.

Dickerson To Undergo MRI

Philadelphia Eagles’ left guard Landon Dickerson suffered an injury during one of the final practice series on Sunday night. The exact cause of the injury at the time was not known; however, Dickerson was unable to stand up on his own and couldn’t put any weight on his leg.

The Eagles’ training staff helped him walk off the field and then took him back to the locker room on a cart for further evaluation. Current reports indicate that the injury is not as severe as it was thought to be at the time.

As per the latest update, ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter has reported that Dickerson is thought to have suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee. It is also being reported that the 26-year-old will undergo a minor meniscus surgery and that he will be considered week-to-week following the surgery.

The goal for the Eagles and Dickerson will be to have him completely healthy and ready to go for week 1 of the regular season. The defending champions kick off the 2025 NFL season with a fascinating divisional rivalry matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, September 4.

Should Dickerson fail to recover in time for the Eagles’ week 1 encounter against the Cowboys, Philadelphia’s roster depth means the next man up at left guard could be either Kenyon Green, Matt Pryor, or Trevor Keegan.

Overall roster health as well as depth will be a key factor for the Eagles as Philadelphia looks to run it back this year. Dickerson has been one of the crucial pieces to the Eagles’ strong O-line over the past few seasons, and having him back in the starting lineup will make a huge difference for the team.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
