The thrilling 2026 AT&T Slam Dunk Contest held at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California saw another electrifying chapter in the contest. The contest was a showcase of raw athleticism and creativity by rising NBA stars and underdog talents. The finale of the event saw Miami Heat forward Keshad Johnson deliver a spectacular show to emerge victorious over San Antonio Spurs’ Carter Bryant.
The 24-year-old who went undrafted in 2024 NBA Draft, turned heads with his raw and explosive dunks. The contest consisted of four participants- Johnson, Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers’ Jaxson Hayes and Jase Richardson of the Detroit Pistons, who also happens to be the son of NBA legend Jason Richardson. Jason Richardson is a two-time champion of the event, winning in the 2002 and 2003 editions.

The AT&T Slam Dunk contest featured a two-round format, where judges scored each dunk. In the opening round, all four players attempted two dunks and the combined score was used to determine the top two who advanced further. In the final round, each finalist came up with two additional dunks and the player who scored higher points, i.e., Johnson was crowned the champion.

During the 2026 AT&T Slam Dunk Contest, Bryant kicked off the opening round to record a high score of 49.2. Richardson earned 45.4 points, and 43.4 points, while Johsnon came up with 47.4 points and 45.4 points. Hayes, on the other hand, recorded 44.6 and 47.2 points, respectively. Johnson and Bryant booked themselves a spot in the second round. In the finals, Johnson earned 49.6 points, and 47.8 points, while Bryant came up with 50.0 points and 43.0 points.
As a result, the Heat star was crowned the champion of the exhilarating contest. After winning the competition, Johnson expressed his gratitude to the almighty. “First and foremost, thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for allowing me to be here. Everybody’s journey is different,” Johnson said.

“I would just say like the blessing that God give me, it’s abundant,” he concluded by saying. “They keep flooding, they keep flooding, and it’s really beyond, beyond my comprehension. So that’s why I just have to take a second and really thank Him. I’m speechless right now. It’s the Lord. I give it all credit to the Lord, all glory to God.”
Notably, Johnson has played 21 games this season.
