While tennis is an individual sport, every player is guided and supported by a strong team behind the scenes. World No. 12 Amanda Anisimova is no different – the American has received relentless backing from her faithful box en route to a maiden Grand Slam final at Wimbledon 2025. She is set to face Iga Swiatek in Saturday’s showpiece event on Centre Court. Today, we will venture into the friends, family and coaches who push Anisimova to get better every day.

After taking a break from tennis in 2023, Amanda Anisimova is entering the peak of her young career so far in 2025. A former Junior Grand Slam winner, she is at a career-high World No. 12 ranking and won her first WTA-1000 tournament in Doha earlier this year. Beating the likes of former Roland Garros runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, the 23-year-old entered her first Wimbledon Championships summit clash too.

From dropping out of the Top-400 to entering the Top-10 (after Wimbledon) in just over two years, it has been quite the journey for Anisimova. Here’s the list of people who will be cheering from her box as she looks to take down five-time major winner Swiatek on Saturday:

Coaching Setup

Hendrik Vleeshouwers is the head coach of Amanda Anisimova. He began working with the American in 2023, when she announced her return to the sport after a designated break. “We’re all feeling amazed and a bit tired,” Vleeshouwers told Access All England after Anisimova entered the semifinals. He has adopted a habit of rewatching the 13th seed’s matches right after completion, in order to pick out tiny details and changes while still in the game state.

Anisimova’s team also includes physiotherapist Shadi Soleymani and performance analyst/strength and conditioning coach Rob Brandsma. Soleymani, who is a chiropractor with a specialization in biomechanics, began working with the 23-year-old this year. On the other hand, Brandsma and Anisimova have an association that dates back to when she was a teenager.

Family – Mother, Sister, Nephew

Olga Anisimova is the mother of Amanda Anisimova. She was one of the first people who played tennis with the young prospect, when she was introduced to the sport. Alongside her ex and late husband Konstantin Anisimov (passed away in 2019), the Russian origin family moved to the USA in 1998. Olga was in the banking industry, and raised her two daughters in Miami.

Anisimova also has an elder sister named Maria Anisimova-Egee. Maria played college tennis for the University of Pennsylvania, and inspired Amanda to take up the sport. “I always saw her playing, and I wanted to do it too. That’s how I got into it and my parents got into it too,” the New Jersey-born WTA virtuoso revealed in an old interview. Previously a vice president at Goldman Sachs, Maria was also named in the Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ list for the finance industry in 2018.

After beating Pavlyuchenkova in the QF, Anisimova had a special guest during her on-court interview. “He flew in this morning, and it’s his birthday on Thursday,” Anisimova said of her soon-to-be 4-year-old nephew. The young boy Jaxon, who is watching his first live tennis event, will also be a part of Anisimova’s box on Saturday. Jaxon’s father, or Maria’s husband, is also in London to witness Anisimova’s incredible Wimbledon journey.

Best Friend – Priscilla Hon

Anisimova’s best friend and fellow WTA player Priscilla Hon is also expected to be in attendance for the Wimbledon final on Saturday. The 27-year-old was in the American’s box during her semifinal victory against top seed Sabalenka. Hon is an Australian tennis professional with a career-high ranking of No. 118 in the world.

“What a day,” Hon said on Instagram after Anisimova’s historic victory. “Not everyday you get to see your best friend absolutely kill it and make her first Slam final. And then ending the day at Billie Eilish.”
