When it comes to women’s tennis, it doesn’t get much better than the iconic Williams sisters. For multiple decades, Venus and Serena Williams dominated the sport like never before. Both in singles as well as in doubles, beating them was considered the pinnacle of achievement. While Serena Williams retired in 2022, Venus Williams is still an active tennis player.

Serena Williams or Venus Williams – Who is the Better Tennis Player?

Younger sister Serena Williams has the better records as a tennis player. She is widely regarded as the better of the two sisters, and also as the greatest tennis player of all time.

In terms of their head-to-head record, Serena Williams has a 19-12 record against elder sister Venus Williams. The now 44-year-old also won five of the last six completed matches between the two players. Out of the 31 match-ups, Serena also leads Venus in Grand Slams (11-5), finals (9-3), as well as Grand Slam finals (7-2).

As a doubles pair, the Williams sisters traumatized even the best combinations in the business. They won 23 and 22 doubles titles respectively, and combined for 14 doubles majors and 3 Olympic gold medals. In June 2010, they ascended the throne as World No. 1 in women’s doubles for the very first time.

Despite emoting their love and respect for one another on numerous occasions, it is hard not to compare Venus and Serena Williams.
