Donovan Ezeiruaku was selected with overall pick number 44 by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft. Ezeiruaku is a standout edge rusher from Boston College. At 6’2″ and 248 pounds, he brings explosive bend, alignment versatility, and a relentless motor to the field. Boston College head coach Bill O’Brien praised Ezeiruaku’s versatility, noting his impact across all special teams units in an interview with Courier Post.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein compared Ezeiruaku to 2017 Pro Bowler Yannick Ngakoue and saw him as a potential first-round talent. At the NFL Combine, Ezeiruaku posted the second-highest score (83) among edge rushers. His NFL prospect grade of 6.40 projects him as a good starter within two seasons with further development.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Williamstown, New Jersey, Ezeiruaku led Williamstown High to a 7–2 record in 2020. As a three-star recruit, he joined Boston College in 2021, though he delivered a breakout season in 2024. Recording 80 tackles (37 solo), an ACC-best 21 tackles for loss, and 16.5 sacks. His dominant performance earned him All-American and All-ACC honors, along with the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end.

Donovan Ezeiruaku’s parents are Sonyx and Cindy Ezeiruaku. The couple has three more sons, though much is available about them. 

As a child, Ezeiruaku played basketball, T-ball, soccer, and football, quickly getting the knack for competition. His father, Sonyx, took him to a football tryout when he was about seven, and from that moment on, he fell in love with the game.

However, his mother, Cindy, wasn’t thrilled about him playing football; she worried he might get hurt or injure someone else. Still, she let him continue as long as he kept up with his chores and maintained good grades. 

By the time he turned 10, Ezeiruaku had already set his sights on becoming a professional football player. Ezeiruaku stated to The Boston Globe, “They were pretty hard on us. It’s not the easiest thing, having four Black boys growing up here. They raised us to be very respectful, polite, and caring young men.”
