Cooper Flagg took the 2025 NBA Draft class by storm with a breakout year and was picked by the Mavericks as No. 1 overall pick. He is regarded as one of the best talents coming into the draft in many years. The 19-year-old is an elite two way player and holds the potential to make an impact as soon as he hits the pro basketball courts.
Flagg’s rise didn’t start in college, it began years earlier, during his dominant run through high school basketball. The forward had a huge impact in the schooling circles as well playing for Nokomis Regional High School and then Montverde Academy.
A five star recruit, Flagg got offers from top programs like UConn but committed to Duke University on October 30, 2023. As expected, the 19-year-old had an instant impact on the side. Duke already boasted top-tier talent, but Flagg’s arrival instantly made them into NCAA title favorites.
The forward created a lasting legacy at Duke, achieving feats most only dream of, in just his freshman year. He averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. Leading in all five major statistical categories, Cooper Flagg achieved a rare feat for any player, let alone a freshman.
Cooper Flagg became the first ACC player in 25 years to record 500+ points, 100+ assists, and 30+ blocks in a regular season.
He swept both the Naismith College Player of the Year and the John R. Wooden Award, joining a rare list of freshmen to ever achieve that double.
Flagg was also named as the ACC Player of the Year, ACC Rookie of the Year
Cooper Flagg was born on December 21, 2006 in Newport, Maine. He was born to Kelly Bowman and Ralph Flagg.
