A tradition of filling a perfect bracket stays a dream for many but some only make it through the First Four. The round of 64 brings it’s own challenges with some major upsets and close calls breaking the dream for many.
The first NCAA tournament was held in 1939, but the first bracket apparently didn’t come until the 1970s. The March Madness bracket tradition is a widespread practice in the whole of America, fans, players and even analysts predict the outcomes of the game to get their NCAA tournament winner. It involves filling out a chart that has all the matchups from the first round to the national championship game.
The March Madness story is all about underdogs upsetting the heavy favorites and making a deep run, also known as Cindrella Stories. Majority of brackets fall through with each upset and only a few carry forward to the next round.
With millions participating each year, the March Madness Bracket Tradition breeds a different level of competitiveness during the NCAA tournament.
