Week 4 Monday Night Football Results – Dolphins Overcome Jets for Season’s First Win, Broncos Crush Bengals in MNF Week 4 Doubleheader

Jets disappointing season continues in loss to Dolphins, Bengals struggles apparent in week 4 MNF games!

Monday Night Football in week 4 was a treat for fans with a doubleheader involving 4 AFC teams. In the first game, the Miami Dolphins took on their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets, while the second game featured the Denver Broncos against the Cincinnati Bengals.

In the first game, both the Dolphins and the Jets took the field with a 0-3 record, looking for the first win of the season. In the second game, the 1-2 Broncos hosted the 2-1 Bengals, but Cincinnati was coming off a huge loss in week 3 against the Vikings without Joe Burrow under center.

Penalties and Turnovers Cost Jets Significantly

The Dolphins’ game against the Jets started out slowly as the first quarter ended with Miami up 3-0 and entered halftime with a 10-3 lead.

Tight end Darren Waller was one of the talking points, considering he made a comeback to the game after sitting out the 2024 season. In his first game back, Waller caught 2 touchdown passes, including the first one of the night that gave Miami a 10-0 lead. Jets’ kicker Nick Folk then hit a 58-yard field goal just as the second quarter came to an end.

Miami was in complete control for the remainder of the game, as the Dolphins extended their lead to 17-3 in the third quarter with Waller coming down with his second touchdown of the game. However, that lead lasted just a few minutes as Jets’ quarterback Justin Fields converted a 4th and 1 into a 43-yard run to the endzone, bringing the Jets back within 7.

Both teams then exchanged a pair of field goals between De’Von Achane and Garrett Wilson touchdowns, with Miami taking the win 27-21 to move to 1-3 on the season, while the Jets remained winless through 4 games.

Earlier in the game, Fields lost a fumble just yards away from the endzone, which easily cost them 7 points in the first quarter. However, that was just the beginning of their turnover woes.

With a little over 2 minutes left in the first half, Miami’s defensive pressure forced yet another fumble, with the Jets marching down the field on the Miami 36-yard line. In total, the Jets lost 3 fumbles and were penalized 13 times for 101 yards, severely impacting their chances of winning the game.

As per the stats, the Jets dominated in most areas, such as total yards and passing and rushing yards, but the turnovers and penalties were the main difference, where they lost big.

Broncos Win Lopsided Contest Against Clueless Bengals Offense

Monday Night Football’s second game of the doubleheader saw the Broncos at home against the Bengals. Denver entered the game as 7.5-point favorites, but it was a completely one-sided contest.

Cincinnati put up 3 points on their opening drive and didn’t score a single point after that as Denver’s defense, coupled with Cincinnati’s critical penalties, ended drives prematurely. Flagged for 65 yards from 11 penalties, the Bengals were unable to generate any offense, while their defense gave up 28 points.

On the flip side, the Broncos excelled on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Bo Nix had another strong game, finishing with 326 passing yards, 2 touchdowns in the air, and 1 along the ground. The running game was also on point for Denver, with J.K. Dobbins rushing for 101 yards, and RJ Harvey adding another 58 yards.

On defense, Patrick Surtain had a monster game, and the Broncos were able to hold both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to just 8 receptions for 55 yards in total.

Broncos vs Bengals Game Stats

The Denver Broncos dominated this matchup, which reflected not only in the final score but also in all the key stats. Denver had over 500 yards of total offense while restricting Cincinnati to under 160 yards.
