Week 2 SNF features the Vikings and the Falcons!

The week 2 slate of games will be almost over by the time Sunday Night Football (SNF) begins. There are still 3 games left to play, with one of them coming under the Sunday night prime-time slot. The nationally televised game is always a unique experience for viewers to watch out-of-region games.

Who’s playing on Sunday Night Football?

Week 2 of Sunday Night Football features the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Atlanta Falcons in an all-NFC clash. The Vikings are coming into this game having won their week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears (27-24) in a come from behind win.

On the other hand, the Falcons lost their opening match of the season to divisional rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in another close game that finished 23-20.

Falcons vs Vikings Head-to-Head Record

The Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings have met 34 times before their upcoming matchup. It is the Vikings who hold a commanding 22-12 lead in the head-to-head record between the two teams.

The last time these two teams met was on December 8, 2024. Minnesota went on to dominate that game, eventually winning 42-21 with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone.

Week 2 Sunday Night Football Predictions

The Minnesota Vikings head into their week 2 game as the favorites at home over the Atlanta Falcons. Judging from their win last week, Minnesota got off to a slow start but eventually found a way to win coming from behind. However, that game was also the debut of second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

The Vikings will still be without receiver Jordan Adisson, who is serving a 3-game suspension, but they still have other potent offensive weapons. Moreover, the Vikings’ defense is once again a strength of the team.

For what it’s worth, the Falcons also have the ability to keep the game close, and could even walk out of Minnesota with a win. Michael Penix Jr. had nearly 300 yards worth of passing and a touchdown, while running back Bijan Robinson had 6 receptions for 100 receiving yards. That said, Minnesota still holds the edge in this week 2 matchup.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
