“We All Went Crazy” – Aaron Gordon Brings Joy to Grief-Stricken Family With Playoff Buzzer Beater, Becomes Pillar of Strength

The driving force behind Aaron Gordon is not merely his love for basketball, but also the bond and affection that he shares with his late brother’s children’s. The Denver Nuggets star has not only stepped up for his NBA side but also for his family who has been undergoing immense grief.

Last year remained one of the most challenging for the Gordon family, who lost Drew Gordon in a car accident. The elder brother who carved an identity for himself in the world of international basketball breathed his last in May 2024. He was survived by his three children’s and wife, Angela.

Recently, Angela Gordon spoke on how Aaron Gordon has stepped up to be the ‘best uncle’ to his nephews. Though it is hard for three little kids to not have their father around, Aaron Gordon has been trying to do whatever it takes to be there for them. And Aaron’s sister-in-law was full of praise for him, especially after the ecstatic winner against the Clippers that brought joy to the three kid’s faces.

Angela Gordon and her young boys were at the Intuit Dome, catching the glimpses of the NBA Playoffs game. However, due to an early flight to Denver on Saturday, the Gordon family had to check out in the mid-game. When Aaron Gordon hit the buzzer beater shot, the family was at the Los Angeles Airport and in full cheers.

Aaron Gordon Wins Hearts on and Off the Court

Angela Gordon on the ecstatic moment said, “I was in tears. Just incredible. We all went crazy. It was pretty cool for the boys to see their uncle do something like that. Their smiles were prices. They (three sons) have an incredible relationship with their Uncle Aaron. In losing their superhero dad, they have leaned heavily into and Aaron, who has welcomed them in with his arms wide open.”

She further added, “There are truly no words to describe how much he means to me and the kids. He has been our light in the darkness. Aaron has always been the most selfless person. But in living a life without their dad here physically, I could not think of any better person for my boys to be able to look up to in every aspect of life.”

Aaron Gordon also emotionally shared his side of the story. He revealed that the boys mean the world to him, and he would do anything for them. Gordon’s buzzer beater shot against the Clippers not only moved the Denver Nuggets fan base but also his grief stricken family. The shot stands as the first NBA Playoffs buzzer beater and will be remembered for a very long time.
