The Wizards are on the Cooper Flagg mission
The Wizards will come in this contest after playing against Toronto Raptors a night ago. They are in danger of replicating a 16-game losing streak earlier this season. While the Wizards were expected to struggle, their current record is still bewildering. The veteran duo of Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma have been unconvincing and it’s clear that the franchise is still looking for its face. The biggest ‘positive’ of the current losing run is they are getting closer to the #1 pick in the 2025 Draft, which will probably be a potentially generational talent, Cooper Flagg.
The Lakers are doing well
The Lakers come into this game after suffering a 14-point loss against the Philadelphia 76ers despite a 31-point explosion by LeBron James. This loss broke a four-game winning streak and the team has a decent 8-5 record in January. Their defense looks brilliant with Max Christie, Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt, Dorian-Finney Smith, and Anthony Davis patrolling both the perimeter and the paint. Austin Reaves and LeBron James can be defensive liabilities at times but the team wouldn’t have win many games without their offensive skills. Overall, the Lakers look solid on both ends and are expected to bring in a Center before the midseason trade deadline to bolster their lineup.

The Wizards have been the punching bag for the league and the odds are always heavily stacked against them. Thus, the Lakers will enter as the overwhelming favorites here despite Anthony Davis’ recent abdominal injury. I see them winning by 15+ points and the total going past 225 points but below 235.

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
