Washington Commanders Schedule for 2026-27 NFL Season – Commanders Strength of Schedule Analysis, Odds for Super Bowl 61, Conference Winner Odds, and Division Winner Odds

Eric Divakaran

The Washington Commanders’ 2025-26 season was a crushing disappointment to say the least. After reaching the NFC Championship in 2024-25 season and falling to the eventual Super Bowl LX champions Eagles, high expectations surrounded the team entering the new year. Instead, they regressed sharply, plagued by a wave of devastating injuries that decimated the roster at key positions.

Despite aggressive offseason additions aimed to bolstering depth and talent, the Commanders backpedaled, unable to recapture the momentum or chemistry of the previous campaign. What began with playoff hopes quickly unraveled into a very frustrating, injury-riddled year that fell well short of the franchise’s recent progress and fan expectations.

Commanders Strength of Schedule Analysis and Prediction for 2026-27 NFL Season

Strength of Schedule Analysis

The Washington Commanders face a middle-of-the-pack strength of schedule in 2026, ranked 16th at .502.

At home, the schedule is brutal. They must host all three NFC East rivals (Cowboys, Giants, Eagles) plus two extremely dangerous NFC West teams (Seahawks, Rams) and two strong AFC teams (Texans, Bengals). That combination of divisional warfare and high-quality cross-conference games makes their home slate one of the toughest in the league. So how are they ranked 16th?

On the road, things ease slightly. While the three divisional away games remain difficult, they also travel to the Vikings, Cardinals, and Titans – teams Washington should be capable of beating provided they are healthy. The road games against the 49ers and Jaguars though, are the real landmines.

Overall, the .502 SOS is fair but unforgiving if not handled correctly. Success will depend heavily on staying healthy (which they were not able to do in 2025-26 campaign) and winning the winnable games.

Prediction

The Commanders enter 2026 with a middle-of-the-pack schedule and nine home games. After last season’s major regression and injury-plagued collapse following their 2024-25 NFC Championship appearance, expectations are modest. Jayden Daniels failed to take a leap in his sophomore season which was highly disappointing to witness. Now granted that a lot of it was injuries, he was still not the same player he was in his rookie season even when he played. So was it all a fluke season? No, not yet at least.

Their home slate is especially tough as mentioned earlier with all three divisional rivals plus the Seahawks, Rams, Texans, and Bengals, which will make winning at home a serious challenge.

The road schedule offers some relief with games against the Vikings, Cardinals, and Titans, though the 49ers and Jaguars along with the divisional rivals games remain dangerous. With Jayden Daniels most likely to start the season healthy and a talented young core intact, Washington has the pieces to improve.

We prediction a 9-8 or 10-7 record. They should be competitive and in the playoff conversation late in the season, but a return to the postseason remains a stretch in a loaded NFC East.

Our Prediction: Commanders do not make the 2026-27 playoffs.

Washington Commanders Super Bowl LXI Odds for 2026-27 Season

As per the latest Super Bowl odds on FanDuel, the Washington Commanders are (+4500) to win Super Bowl LXI next season, holding the 18th best odds to win it all.

Despite their impressive 2024-25 NFC Championship run, knocking off the No.1 seeded Detroit Lions from the divisional round, they remain far from true championship caliber. The 2025-26 season exposed deep vulnerabilities through injuries and regression. They were the worst defensive team in the NFL ranked 32nd in the league and allowed 52 TDs. And their offense was only slightly better off ranking 22nd overall.

The NFL’s growing parity- with talent spread across many teams- means far too many squads can beat them as currently constructed. Simply reaching the postseason in 2026 will be a major challenge given their tough stretch of games. Advancing deep enough to reach-and win-the Super Bowl would require near-perfect health, massive roster upgrades, and consistent elite execution which unfortunately, the Commanders have yet to sustain.

Washington Commanders Conference Winner Odds for 2026-27 Season

In terms of the Commanders to win their Conference, their odds currently sit at (+2500), 10th best odds at NFC, as per FanDuel, behind the likes of multiple other teams like the Seahawks, Rams, Packers, Eagles, Lions, 49ers, Bears, Cowboys, and the Buccaneers.

This reflects how far-fetched a conference title remains for the Commanders. Their 2025-26 defense ranked dead last (32nd) in total yards allowed, while the offense finished a middling 22nd overall. Jayden Daniels showed regression rather than growth in second season, struggling with consistency and decision-making even when healthy.

Key weapons Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel (acquired from the 49ers in 2025) were repeatedly sidelined by injuries, creating constant uncertainty and stalling the passing game. In a loaded NFC with at least nine superior teams ahead of them, overcoming such fundamental weaknesses makes an NFC Championship run feel nearly impossible without massive offseason improvements.

Washington Commanders Division Winner Odds for 2026-27 NFL Season

The odds to win the NFC East are set at (+500), as per Draftkings. This makes the Commanders the third best odds to win the NFC East division, behind their divisional rivals: the Cowboys (+275), and the Eagles (-110), but in front of the Giants (+700).

The Eagles remain heavy favorites due to their proven quarterback (Jalen Hurts), elite talent, coaching continuity under Nick Sirianni, and their championship pedigree. The Cowboys ranked ahead of the Commanders due to Dak Prescott’s consistency, with a top-10 offense in the 2025 season, and a roster built to contend, even though their defense needs a lot of work. The Commanders’ +500 reflect their talent and potential upside, but also their regression and injury issues in 2025-26, plus a reasonably tough schedule.

The Giants, despite worse odds, are a rising threat with John Harbaugh’s arrival expected to bring immediate change with their young core.

If Washington fails to improve significantly in 2026- particularly on defense and Daniels’ development- the Giants could overtake them in the division standings. The Eagles and Cowboys will be even harder to beat, making the NFC East one of the league’s most competitive divisions.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
