Viktor Gyokeres to Manchester United Rumours Debunked, Arsenal Closing In

No Manchester United Bid As Viktor Gyokeres Prioritizes Arsenal Move.

Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has been shut down by multiple credible sources. Over the weekend, various Portuguese outlets claimed that Man United had submitted a €60m (£52m) bid plus €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons to hijack Gyokeres.

However, it seems that the Swedish forward is only and definitely destined for Arsenal this summer. Transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs have firmly denied these reports. Romano cleared it on his YouTube channel that there have been no bid from Man United for Gyokeres.

He said, “What about Gyokeres? I’m not aware of an official bid from Manchester United. I’m not aware of club-to-club talks from Manchester United.” Jacobs echoed this on X, saying, “Understand Manchester United haven’t made a bid for Viktor Gyokeres and have no plans to do so.”

Arsenal Remain in Pole Position to Sign Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal have been negotiating with Sporting CP for weeks. They are now edging closer to a deal reportedly worth £55m upfront plus add-ons. Gyokeres has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners and is said to have made Mikel Arteta’s project his ‘total priority’.

Romano confirmed, “Viktor Gyokeres maintains his clear position despite links with Man United and more clubs: he wants Arsenal. No change of plans.” The 27-year-old Swede also made his intentions clear as he refused to return to pre-season training at Sporting CP.

The only hurdle that remains in Arsenal’s way is Sporting’s insistence on more easily attainable add-ons. Meanwhile, Arsenal prefer a smaller guaranteed sum. As negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting enter the final stretch, a breakthrough seems imminent soon.

Manchester United Continue Search for Striker

Rasmus Hojlund has been struggling for consistency. Hence, Man United are still in the market for a striker but they have their attention elsewhere. Randal Kolo Muani and Benjamin Sesko are reportedly on their radar. Boss Ruben Amorim is determined to bolster his attacking options this summer.

It’s unknown where the rumours stemmed from but Man United have not targeted Gyokeres. And for now, all signs point to Gyokeres joining Arsenal. Neither the player nor his agent entertained the idea of a move to Old Trafford. Man United are exploring other targets for their frontline reinforcement.
