360 layups are back! Mitchell’s move against the Bulls proves this flashy style is taking over.
Looks like 360 layups are the latest craze in the NBA! Just days after Ja Morant wowed everyone with not one, but two in a single game, Donovan Mitchell added his own flair with a slick spin move against the Chicago Bulls.
Mitchell, who took home the NBA Dunk Contest title back in 2018 during his rookie year, has evolved far beyond just being a high-flying dunker. With five straight All-Star nods, he’s making a strong case as one of the league’s best shooting guards, showcasing skill well beyond his highlight-reel dunks.

Midway through the second quarter, Mitchell pulled off a jaw-dropping 360-degree layup, spinning around the Bulls’ Julian Phillips for an acrobatic finish that quickly went viral. Major sports outlets couldn’t resist sharing the clip from Chicago.
This stunning layup was just one part of Mitchell’s night, where he racked up 34 additional points, eight rebounds, and four steals, ultimately leading his team to victory.
The Cavaliers are on an impressive run, now boasting 12 straight wins to kick off the season—a feat that ties them for the sixth-best start in NBA history. They’re halfway to the all-time record, set by the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors.
Mitchell’s contributions were pivotal. He finished with 36 points, eight rebounds, and knocked down 7 of his 16 attempts from three. Darius Garland added 17 points and five assists, while Evan Mobley put up 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

On the Bulls’ side, Zach LaVine led with 26 points and six rebounds. Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Coby White added 20 points, hitting five three-pointers. The Bulls struggled with turnovers, giving up 20, which the Cavaliers converted into a whopping 35 points.
Next up, the Cavaliers face the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. A win there would tie their longest winning streak in franchise history. Though it’s inevitable they’ll drop a game at some point, Mitchell and the Cavaliers have made it clear they’re ready to compete at the top of the Eastern Conference.

I write about sports because, well, it brings in the big bucks! I’m not some lifelong analyst or stats guru, truth being told, you’ve probably never heard of me!—I just know how to research, write, and make things sound good. That’s the job!
Got into sports media the same way most people do: by (fortunate) accident. Started with SEO writing, took on a few sports gigs, and now here we are! I cover games, trades, player drama—whatever needs words.
Favorite part? The chaos. One day it’s a blockbuster trade, the next it’s a goat running onto the field. Never boring.
Message to readers: If you want deep analysis, there are people for that. If you want sharp, no-BS writing that actually makes sense, stick around.
