Victor Osimhen is on the brink of completing a sensational permanent transfer to Galatasaray, with the Turkish giants agreeing to activate the striker’s €75 million release clause at Napoli, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Nigerian forward, who previously rejected a mega-money offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal worth a staggering €160 million over four years, is set to stay in Istanbul after a standout loan spell. Personal terms have reportedly been agreed, with Osimhen poised to sign a four-year deal worth €16 million net per season.
Osimhen’s impact last season was nothing short of remarkable. The 26-year-old scored 37 goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, leading Galatasaray to a domestic double – the Super Lig and the Turkish Cup. His performances not only endeared him to the club’s fanbase but also made him a top priority for the board, who have moved swiftly to seal his signature permanently.
The striker’s prolific form has transformed Galatasaray’s attacking line and solidified their dominance in Turkish football. With his future now seemingly tied to Istanbul, Galatasaray’s ambitions for the Champions League and further domestic glory look more realistic than ever.
For Napoli, the decision to sell Osimhen is as much tactical as it is financial. Incoming head coach Antonio Conte reportedly does not view the Nigerian as a fit for his plans, preferring Romelu Lukaku as his preferred No. 9. The deal with Galatasaray allows Napoli to cash in significantly while freeing up resources for their next striker hunt.
The reigning Serie A champions are lining up replacements, with Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez high on their list, and Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca also emerging as a possible alternative.
With just payment terms left to finalise, Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray is set to be one of the summer’s headline transfers — one that could shift the balance of power both in Turkey and across Europe.
