Can Jannik Sinner Win Two Grand Slam Finals In a Row Against Carlos Alcaraz?

And after a long two-week journey, we’re at the precipice of the grand finale. The continent has changed, the timezone has varied, and the court is different between the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. But there’s one thing that has remained constant – Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the final. It’s unbelievable how these two have simply conquered the tennis world. How these two just stand apart from the rest of the world. But with this dominance comes a rivalry, and Sinner has opened up on that aspect of their relationship.

Jannik Sinner Looks Forward to Facing Carlos Alcaraz At Their Rivalry’s Birthplace

The year was 2022, and Alcaraz was speeding towards his first Grand Slam and the US Open title. And who did he face in the quarterfinals – Jannik Sinner. Yes, Sinner then wasn’t as dominant as he’s now but the two engaged in an epic 5-set match that included two tiebreakers. Little did the tennis world know that this was the prelude to tennis’s biggest rivalry in 2025. Sinner certainly was excited to relive that match again after his win over Felix Auger-Aliassime.

“We’ve played quite a lot this year, we know each other,” Sinner said. Later, the 23-year-old opened up on what makes facing Alcaraz so special. “I love these challenges,” Sinner said about his upcoming final with Alcaraz. “He’s someone who pushes me to the limit, which is great, because then you have the best feedback you can have as a player.”

However, even then Sinner cheekily admitted that sometimes he wishes he didn’t have to compete with Alcaraz. “But it’s also nice sometimes to not play against him,” Sinner said. Certainly, that’s a hilarious take, but it also makes sense. Apart from Alcaraz, Sinner really has no equal in the tennis world right now. The Spaniard is the only one challenging (and till now dominating) their rivalry. Still, Sinner isn’t the only one excited about this match.

Carlos Alcaraz also opened up on the biggest improvement he’s seen in Sinner this year. “I think physically he has improved a lot, and that’s obviously. I mean, it wasn’t a secret,” Alcaraz said. The Spaniard noted that it’s remarkable how easily Sinner can play multiple 3-4 hour matches in a row. That’s one of the reasons why it’s difficult to compete against the Italian star.

Still, it’s Alcaraz who’s entering the match with more momentum this time. Alcaraz has been dominant and hasn’t lost a set till now. While Sinner has won but he has visibly struggled in almost every match. Could that play a role in this match? We’ll find out soon.
