Chelsea was inspired by their talisman Cole Palmer in their 4-1 comeback victory over Real Betis in the UECL 2024/25 final. Conceding early on, Palmer and his side took charge of the big stage scoring four second-half goals.

Palmer yet again picked up the man-of-the-match trophy for his inspiring efforts against Real Betis. Assisting Chelsea’s opener by Enzo Fernandez, Palmer shifted the momentum towards the Blues’ being a constant threat in the final third of the Beti’s half.

Palmer Reflects on Key Contributions and Team Momentum

Palmer who joined Chelsea from Manchester City is currently their most in-form player. Having constant contributions throughout the season, Palmer has guided Chelsea to their first UECL trophy now. Talking about what it means to the players and the club, Palmer in his post-match interview said:

“It’s big for the fans. Big for us. We are going in the right direction”

“I feel like all the finals, I’ve contributed. I just like the occasion. For the fans and family, I’m always trying to do something. This contest is a good step for us. The way we were playing we deserved it.”

When asked about what Enzo Maresca said at the half-time break that inspired the comeback, Palmer continued,

“He didn’t say much. He told us we were losing too many balls and that we started to play like it was the finals. In the second half, I was trying to find the spaces, once I got the first assist, I was not going back again”

Palmer also talked about keeping their heads focused calling Chelsea a young side with a lot of potential. With players like Jadon Sancho, Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez leading the lines, the Blues have some arguable firepower at their prowess.
