There have been several brilliant individual campaigns throughout the UCL 2024/25 tournament. FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Harry Kane of Bayern Munich had an arguable campaign. However, after losing out in the knockout stages, there award is likely to be presented to either of the players.
Dembele and Martinez will have more than the Champions League 2025 Trophy to compete for in Finals. Leading their sides to the big stage, both of the players are among the most highest rated players in the competition.
Dembele has led PSG to a heroic campaign contributing week in and week out of the UCL. Having scored eight goals and four assists, Dembele currently is the favourite to win the UCL 2024/25 Golden Ball.
Dembele has scored or assisted in each of his last five games as well. Should he score in the finals leading PSG to their first Champions League trophy, he will be very likely to pick up the Golden Ball this year.
Inter Milan playing their second UCL final in three years has been led by Lautaro Martinez at all stages. Leading the side in goals (9), the Argentine striker is also one of the favourites to win the UCL 2024/25 Golden Ball Award.
Martinez scored some crucial goals for Inter against FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the knockout stages. The 27-year-old will look to take the Italian side all the way this time around as he’s said to be back to fitness ahead of the finals.
Other than Dembele and Martinez, Vitinha is one of the emerging candidates. Pulling the string in the midfield for PSG, the Portuguese has evolved a great deal this season. Amid the shine of Dembele and Hakimi, Vitinha’s season goes as underrated as he will fight for PSG’s first-ever UCL trophy.
The competition for the Golden Ball looks pretty obvious as things stand. It could depend on who takes the UCL trophy to determine the winner of the Player of the Tournament between Dembele and Martinez.
