Tyrese Haliburton Injury Update: A Major Upgrade on Indiana Pacers Star’s Recovery ahead of NBA Season 2025-26

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton gave a positive update on Friday regarding his injury. He is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In an interview during his youth basketball camp, Haliburton stated that he can now walk in an orthopedic boot without the aid of crutches or a scooter. The next step in his recovery will be walking in shoes, which should occur in the coming weeks.

What’s the comeback timeline for Tyrese Haliburton ahead of Pacers’ 2025-26 NBA Campaign?

“It’s a long process. This injury, to get back to 100%, usually takes about a year. We’re only in week 6, almost week 7 now, so we still have a long way to go. Every little bit of progress is exciting for me,” said the player.

Tyrese, 25, was an All-Star selection in his first two full seasons with the Pacers (2022-23 and 2023-24). Although he wasn’t an All-Star last season, he was named to the All-NBA Third Team for the second consecutive year and played a key role in the team’s playoff run.

In 23 playoff games, Haliburton averaged 17.3 points, 8.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 made threes, and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 34 percent from three. He was instrumental in the Pacers’ run to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2000, defeating the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New York Knicks.

In Game 7 against the Thunder, Tyrese started well, converting three of his four three-point attempts in the first quarter. However, he suffered a non-contact injury that forced him out of the game, allowing Oklahoma City to win 103-91 and clinch the title.

Despite progress in his recovery, Tyrese Haliburton is not expected to return to competitive NBA action until the 2026-27 season. Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard confirmed that the player will miss the entire 2025-26 season.
