All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill is expected to be released by the Miami Dolphins after the 2025 season, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. The news comes days after Hill, 31, suffered a torn ACL and dislocated knee during Miami’s 27-21 victory over the New York Jets on Monday night. The injury, which also damaged multiple ligaments, is expected to end his season and potentially his Dolphins career.

Hill underwent successful surgery on Tuesday and is expected to miss the remainder of the year. “The Dolphins wide receiver suffered a dislocated knee in Monday’s win against the Jets, tearing multiple ligaments, including his ACL that required surgery this week,” Jones wrote. “The five-time first-team All-Pro was in the second year of a three-year contract extension with Miami, and league sources expect the Dolphins to release Hill before the start of the next league year in March 2026.”

Cheetah’s Chapter with Dolphins in Question

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed that the surgery went well and that his client hopes to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season. “There won’t be a need for further knee surgery,” Rosenhaus said, adding that Hill’s recovery timeline remains on track. Financially, Hill’s 2026 salary of $29.9 million is not guaranteed. However, his contract includes an $11 million injury guarantee and a $5 million roster bonus that would vest if he remains with the team in March, a major reason league insiders expect Miami to move on.

Hill had been off to a solid start this season, posting 21 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown through four games. His 2023 campaign ranked among the best in NFL history, when he caught 119 passes for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading the league in both categories. Despite rumors of frustration with the Dolphins earlier this season, Hill remained a key locker-room presence. Still, with the team struggling at 1-3 and Hill facing a long rehab at age 31, the Dolphins’ front office appears ready to reset its roster and cap flexibility.
