Tua Tagovailoa named Dolphins’ starter for Sunday’s game against Cardinals

Tua Tagovailoa is back !

Tua Tagovailoa has been cleared from concussion protocol and will be starting Week 8 matchup against the Cardinals.

Tagovailoa has suffered a concussion in Week 2 and has placed immediately after on injured reserve. This Wednesday, Tua came back at practice for the first time since Sept. 12.

“After going through the process and having a practice where we were able to initiate some contact with him and then he met with an independent doctor and he was fully cleared and is out of the protocol,” said McDaniel.

Without Tua Tagovailoa under center, the Dolphins had some issues to main their competitiveness losing 3 of their last 4 games.

With a concerning history of concussions, seeing Tua Tagovailoa return to the field raises more questions than certainties. In the meantime, Tua has seen many doctors and experts on that topic and all saying it is safe to come back playing.

But Tua Tagovailoa needs also to protect himself while playing. He has been encouraging to slide more often when scrambling.

Since being drafted 5th overall by the Dolphins, Tua has progressively improved, particularly in 2022 when he led the league in several passing metrics before injuries cut his season short.

Over his seasons with the Dolphins, he has achieved a career passer rating above 90, with notable accuracy and efficiency, completing over 65% of his passes.

His 2022 performance included over 3,500 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, despite missing games due to injury, highlighting his ability to be a playmaker when healthy.

Tua’s connection with top receivers like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle has transformed the Dolphins’ offense into one of the league’s most dynamic.
