Top 5 Tight Ends To Follow During The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Tight ends at the NFL Combine will perform their on-field workouts today!

The physical tests of the NFL’s 2025 Scouting Combine have already begun. Yesterday, we saw the defensive linemen and the linebackers in action during their on-field drills and today we will be witnessing the tight ends in their quest to impress scouts, coaches, general managers, and others. A good performance here at the Combine will help boost the draft stocks of many of these players looking to rise higher in the draft.

Who Are The Top Tight Ends At This Year’s NFL Combine?

Unfortunately, this year three of the top tight ends in the class will not be performing in the on-field drills. Tyler Warren from Penn State has opted out of the drills and will be present only for the media and team interviews.

Colston Loveland of the Michigan Wolverines will also not be able to perform the drills due to a shoulder injury that he is nursing and Elijah Arroyo of the Miami Hurricanes is still recovering from a knee injury which will keep him off the field.

1) Harold Fannin Jr.

Harold Fannin Jr. attended Bowling Green college and played on their Falcons football team from 2022-2024. He had an extraordinarily brilliant 2024 where he set multiple records in the FBS for tight ends including the most receiving yards by a Tight End in a season with 1,555 and the most receptions by a Tight End in a season with 117 among many more.

Harold Fannin Jr. has reportedly “started to separate himself” as the best TE in attendance at the Senior Bowl this year.

Multiple NFL scouts reportedly believe Fannin’s game is “reminiscent” of a faster Antonio Gates.

On top of that, he earned Consensus All-American, MAC Most Valuable Player, and MAC Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2024 as well as First-team All-MAC in 2023 and 2024.

2) Mason Taylor

Mason Taylor played tight end for the LSU Tigers and he is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor and the nephew of Pro Football Hall of Famer Zach Thomas. Taylor has a safe pair of hands evidenced from his lone drop in 2024. He reads the defense well and finds their weaknesses. Overall, his movements are fluid and he is also able to handle blockers well.

Gunnar Helm has played as a tight end for the Texas Longhorns since 2021 till 2024. The 22-year-old senior did well in the Longhorns’ offense. He has good size, reliable hands, and is a decent route runner. Helm knows his way around smaller defenders using his size to his advantage. In two years as a pass catcher, he has only 2 drops to his name, which makes him a trustworthy target.

4) Terrance Ferguson

Terrance Ferguson is a tight end who played four years of collegiate football on the Oregon Ducks football team. He is one of the better pass-catching tight ends in this year’s draft class. His size is decent for the position and has a nice lean and athletic frame with a large catch radius. Ferguson is also adept at running routes and possesses a vertical threat.

5) Mitchell Evans

Mitchell Evans is a 21-year-old tight end who played 4 years on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. Evans is equally good of a pass catcher as he is as a blocking tight end. He uses his strength and hand ability to win when contested. He is well adept in run blocking and has shown the ability to seal the edge. Evans has a high football IQ and a good presence of zone coverage.
