Tony Pollard Injury Update: Titans RB questionable for Week 9

Pollard's absence could significantly impact the Titans' offensive strategy against New England.

Titans running back Tony Pollard (foot) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

This Sunday, the Tennessee Titans will be back on home turf at Nissan Stadium in Nashville to face off with the New England Patriots for Week 9.

After a tough loss to the Lions, the Titans are dealing with a wave of injuries, and some key starters, including RB Tony Pollard, may miss the game.

Pollard missed practice on Wednesday and remained absent on Thursday, joining running back Tyjae Spears, who is also sidelined with a hamstring injury.

What happened to Titans star RB?

Tony Pollard’s practice absence is due to a foot injury. Listed as DNP for Wednesday and Thursday, the Titans are hoping to see improvement by Friday, which will help determine his status for Sunday against the Patriots.

Pollard has been a significant part of the Titans’ offense, with at least 18 carries in each of the last four games. If he’s unavailable for Sunday’s game, the team may need to rely on Tyjae Spears (hamstring) and Julius Chestnut to fill the gap.

Fantasy managers may want to hold off on decisions until Friday’s injury report, as Pollard could still be questionable, leaving the door open for a possible return against the AFC East contenders.

Tony Pollard is having a strong debut season with the Titans

After five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, where he continually upped his game and established himself as an effective yet underrated back, Pollard joined the Titans and has proven his value.

He has recorded 114 carries for 494 rushing yards and three touchdowns in seven games this season.
Pollard has also been active in the passing game, making 21 catches for 109 receiving yards. Though the Titans aren’t topping the NFL charts, Pollard has been one of the highlights of their season.

Titans beat writer Terry McCormick emphasized the seriousness of Pollard’s injury, pointing out that the team will be watching his progress closely.

Currently listed as “Did Not Practice” (DNP) for both Wednesday and Thursday, Pollard’s availability for Sunday’s game is uncertain. The Titans will reassess him before releasing their final injury report on Friday.

If Pollard can’t go, the Titans will likely lean on Julius Chestnut, the only active, healthy running back on the roster. With Spears also out, they may need to call on their practice squad, where veteran Joshua Kelley and rookie Jabari Small are on standby.
