Taylor Hendricks Injury Update: How much time will the Jazz star likely be sidelined due to injury?

Swati Bhatia

Hendricks is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Utah Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks suffered a horrific injury in Utah Jazz’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. Hendricks, who was making his third consecutive start this season, went down with a gruesome right leg injury. Hendrick was simply jogging towards Mavericks’ half when his right leg just snapped near his ankle as play was quickly stopped and training staff rushed over.

The team confirmed that Hendricks suffered a fractured right fibula and dislocated ankle. He will return to Utah to undergo further testing on Tuesday.

How long is Taylor Hendricks likely to be sidelined?

Hendrick is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season after the horrific injury. The timeline for recovery from such injuries typically takes nine months to a year, meaning Hendricks might not be able to return to the court until the next season.

Taylor Hendricks was the No. 9 pick for the Jazz in the 2023 NBA Draft last year. The 20-year-old played 40 games, averaging 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in his rookie year. Utah exercised his third-year rookie scale option for the 2025-26 season last week.

Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy opened up about Taylor’s unfortunate injury and admitted that it was “hard to stomach”.

“Obviously the most important thing right now is Taylor,” Hardy said postgame. “That’s hard to stomach. He’s put in a lot of hard work, he’s a great kid.”

What’s Next for Jazz?

The struggling Utah Jazz will have to move forward without Hendricks for the rest of the season. The team is 0-3 to open the year. They suffered a narrow 124-126 defeat against the Grizzlies before getting blown out by the Warriors 127-86 on Friday.

Their first away game also resulted in a defeat, suffering a 102-110 loss against the Mavericks.

Utah Jazz will next play Sacramento Kings on Tuesday at Delta Center.
