Fritz seeks indoor consistency as Bublik aims to reclaim head-to-head edge in Paris
Fourth seed Taylor Fritz is set to take on 13th seed Alexander Bublik in the third round of the Paris Masters 2025. The American received a first-round bye and followed it up with a straight-sets win over qualifier Aleksander Vukic. Meanwhile, Bublik has looked sharp, dispatching Alexei Popyrin and Corentin Moutet in straight sets to reach this stage. Fritz is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career.
The world No. 4 captured titles in Stuttgart (defeating Alexander Zverev) and Eastbourne (over Jenson Brooksby) and reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon before falling to Carlos Alcaraz. He also made a finals appearance in Tokyo, again losing to Alcaraz, and posted semifinal runs in Miami and Toronto, alongside quarterfinal finishes in Delray Beach, Geneva, Washington, and the US Open. Considering recent early exits in Shanghai and Basel, the American has remained a consistent threat indoors. Statistically, Fritz has struck 805 aces, winning 80% of first-serve points and converting 41% of 421 break points.

Bublik, meanwhile, has pieced together a resurgent season after a slow start. The Kazakh, now ranked a career-high No. 16, has captured four titles, in Halle, Gstaad, Kitzbuhel, and Hangzhou, defeating the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Juan Manuel Cerundolo, among others. He’s also made quarterfinal runs at the Open Occitanie, Roland Garros, and most recently Vienna, while reaching a career-best fourth round at the US Open. Stat-wise, Bublik has fired 608 aces, winning 78% of first-serve points, 27% of return points, and converting 40% of 295 break points.

Fritz turned the tide in 2022, defeating Bublik in Eastbourne and then again in the 2022 Davis Cup and 2024 Paris Olympics to even their rivalry.
