Tampa Bay Lightning Recall Cam Atkinson from AHL Affiliate

Veteran Forward Returns to Tampa Bay, Aiming to Boost Offensive Depth

The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a roster adjustment, bringing veteran forward Cam Atkinson back up from the Syracuse Crunch, their AHL affiliate. This move comes just a week after Atkinson was placed on waivers, cleared them, and was subsequently assigned to the Crunch. Now, the experienced winger is getting another shot with the Lightning.

Atkinson, 35, has had a challenging season, appearing in 37 games for Tampa Bay with modest contributions—three goals, eight points, and a minus-3 rating. Before joining the Lightning, he spent last season with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he registered 13 goals and 28 points across 70 games, though he struggled defensively with a minus-22 rating.

While his time in the AHL was brief, it provided an opportunity for him to reset and find his rhythm. The Lightning, currently battling for playoff positioning, could use an extra boost in their forward depth. Atkinson’s experience and offensive instincts could be valuable assets as the team pushes through the latter part of the season.
