Devavrat Kulkarni

The Seahawks open as the early favorites over the Patriots in Super Bowl LX!

After yet another demanding NFL regular season followed by the postseason, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks remain as the only teams still standing. The chance at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy comes down to these two teams, with the big day falling on Sunday, February 8th, 2026.

The Patriots are headed back to another Super Bowl, and this will be their 12th appearance in the Championship game during the Super Bowl era. New England faced a resilient Denver Broncos team in the AFC Championship game and secured a narrow 10-7 win.

On the other side, the Seahawks also came through a narrow 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game, setting up a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX. So, now that we know both the teams playing in this year’s Super Bowl, let us take a look at the opening odds and betting lines for Super Bowl LX

Patriots vs Seahawks Super Bowl LX matchup

The Seattle Seahawks open as 4.5-point favorites over the New England Patriots ahead of Super Bowl LX. The Seahawks come into the title game as the number one seed from the NFC and with wins over the 49ers and the Rams in the Divisional and Conference Championship rounds, respectively.

Seattle not only crushed San Francisco a couple of weeks ago, but their overall dominance on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball reinforced their entire regular season. They then followed it up with another strong performance against Los Angeles on Sunday, with quarterback Sam Darnold leading the way on offense.

So far in the two postseason games for Darnold, the former Viking has 470 passing yards, a completion percentage near 70%, 4 passing touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a passer rating of 122.4.

As for New England, the Patriots have reached the Super Bowl as the number 2 seed from the AFC. New England won resoundingly against the Chargers and Texans at home in the Wild Card and Divisional rounds, but faced an extremely tough challenge on the road against the Broncos.

The Patriots have generally played well on both sides of the ball, but scoring points has been difficult, especially given that all their games have come in unfavorable conditions. Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has used his dual-threat ability to a good extent, but his numbers have dipped considerably in the postseason. Maye has 533 passing yards, with a completion percentage of 55.8%, and has thrown 4 touchdowns and 2 picks for a passer rating of 84.

Overall, the Seahawks have been the more battle-tested team of the two, having had a more moderately difficult schedule than the Patriots, who had one of the easiest schedules in the league this season. In spite of that, Seattle looks like the more balanced side heading into the Championship game.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
