Stephen Curry’s 46 Points Lead Golden State Warriors to Thrilling Win Despite Two Triple-Doubles from Spurs

Stephen Curry led the way for the Warriors with his 46 points!

The Golden State Warriors handed a 125-120 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in a thrilling encounter on Wednesday. With this win, the Warriors snapped their six home games losing skid and handed the Spurs their first home loss of the 2025-26 NBA season. Stephen Curry, the Warriors’ superstar, emerged as the hero of the night. He led the charts with a whopping 46 points, 31 of which came in the second half, five rebounds, and five assists. Curry was shooting 13-of-25 from the field and 15-of-16 from the free-throw line.

Stephen Curry Nears Multiple NBA Records

With his performance against the Spurs, Curry surpassed many stalwarts in multiple NBA records. The four-time champion took over Kevin Durant for the ninth most 40-point games with 73 as well as LeBron James for most 45-point games at the age of 35 or older.

Curry has now seven such games while James has six such games. This is not it, but the 11-time All-Star is now just one 40-point game shy of tying Michael Jordan for most 40-point pieces after turning 30 years old. Apart from it, Curry now also has most 20-point quarters in the play-by-play era with 43.

Notably, this was Curry’s second game back after missing three consecutively in a row with an illness. Apart from him, Jimmy Butler dropped 28 points while shooting 5-of-7 from three, along with six rebounds and three assists. In addition to it, Draymond Green dropped six points, five rebounds and four assists.

Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle Create Unwanted NBA History in Loss to Warriors

As the San Antonio Spurs suffered their first home loss of the season, Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle found themselves creating an unwanted NBA record. Webmanyama finished the night with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Castle came up with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. This marked the first time in NBA history that a team has had two players recording 20-point triple-doubles and still lose the game.

In Wednesday’s game, the Dubs’ experience and shooting depth proved to help them despite two triple-doubles from the Spurs. In fact, apart from Wemby and Castle, four players including Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, De’Aaron Fox and Luke Kornet recorded double-digit scores.
