Carolina Hurricanes' Stefan Noesen Named MVP of the Day for Outstanding Performance on October 27, 2024

Stefan Noesen tallied two goals on four shots and recorded two hits in Sunday’s 6-2 victory against the Ducks. Noesen scored the go-ahead goal at 4:42 of the second period and later added a power-play goal in the same period, which ended up being the game-winning goal. The power forward has accumulated five points in his last five games while playing on the third line. In 12 games this season, he has scored five goals, earned 11 points (including three on the power play), taken 20 shots on goal, delivered 32 hits, and has a minus-2 rating.

Noesen scored to make it 2-1 with a wrist shot in the high slot at 4:42 of the second period, then extended the lead to 3-1 at 17:23 by lifting the puck into the right corner from the slot for a power-play goal assisted by Jesper Bratt.

“I spend a lot of time in front of the net, trying to tip pucks, work on my game down low, My game is not pretty like some of these other guys. It’s a little more nitty gritty and if you hone in one really good skill in this league it’s being around the net. You see a guy like Joe Pavelski for 15 years, having that gift of being able to tip pucks and I take a lot of pride in being able to do that.” : Noesen said

At 4:42, Noesen gave the Devils the lead by scoring from the slot after receiving a pass from Johnathan Kovacevic. Reimer was screened with teammate Mintyukov in the shooting lane as Cotter passed by.

Noesen and Cotter pushed the game out of reach by scoring goals that were alike in just 86 seconds towards the end of the period. Noesen scored after receiving a pass from Jesper Bratt and Mercer set up Cotter’s goal by passing through the crease.

Evan Bouchard got a goal and assisted, while Mattias Ekholm and Connor McDavid both had two assists each for Edmonton. Goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 24 shots as the Oilers started a four-game journey away from home with a victory. Draisaitl scored his sixth goal of the season and sealed an Edmonton comeback by redirecting Ekholm’s pass just 18 seconds into overtime.
