The date for the iconic Finalissima between Spain and Argentina on this campaign has been set next year. The presidents of the Spanish (RFEF) and Argentine (AFA) football associations, Rafael Louzan and Claudio Tapia, have reportedly reached an agreement.

Reportedly, they have decided on the game to be held in March 2026. However, there’s a crucial caveat. The game can only go ahead if both teams secure their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The targeted window for the Finalissima falls between March 26 and 31.

It is the same period reserved for FIFA World Cup playoffs. For Argentina, they have already qualified as the top team in South America. Hence, there are no obstacles for the South American side. Spain, however, are not yet out of danger.

They will still have to face UEFA qualifiers starting in September, with fixtures against Bulgaria, Turkey, and Georgia lined up. Failure to qualify directly could force La Roja into the playoffs, potentially scuttling the high-profile encounter.
