The spat comes at a critical moment for Inter Miami, who have now lost four of their last five matches in all competitions.

David Beckham has called out Minnesota United after their cheeky online jab at his club Inter Miami, following a heavy 4-1 defeat in Major League Soccer. Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi scored in the second half but couldn’t pevent his team from suffering the loss. Notably. the loss was Miami’s heaviest since Lionel Messi’s arrival in July 2023. The defeat must have hurt Inter Miami but it was Minnesota’s social media antics that sparked a reaction from former England captain David Beckham.

In a fiery exchange on Instagram, Minnesota mocked Miami by posting a photo of the defeated team alongside the caption “Pink Phony Club” – a subtle dig referencing the club’s pink kit and the Chappell Roan’s viral song Pink Pony Club. The post also highlighted Minnesota’s leap above Inter Miami in the league standings, adding salt to the wound.

David Beckham Fires Back at Minnesota United

Beckham, who co-owns the Major League Soccer club, didn’t take kindly to the taunt. “Show a little respect, be elegant in triumph,” he commented on the post, addressing Minnesota United directly. But the jabs didn’t stop there. Minnesota followed up with a photo of a fan banner from the match that read: “History over Hype, Culture over Cash”, with “hype and cash” highlighted in Inter Miami’s signature pink. Beckham responded back again: “Respect over everything.”
