Being the son of a legendary former NFL player in Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders was always going to attract publicity when he made it to the league. And as a quarterback, he is also an easy target of media and expert criticism.

Sanders went through the entire pre-draft process being hated on for his attitude and behavior at the NFL Combine, especially during team interview sessions. Then came the draft, where the widely speculated first-round pick dropped all the way to the fifth round, and he eventually landed in Cleveland, where he faces a five-way battle for the starting role under center.

More to the Fifth Rounder Than Meets the Eye?

In any case, Sanders is showing the NFL community that he belongs in this league, and his talent is far beyond the fifth-round tag he currently wears. He is receiving support from his teammates and was also seen picking the brains of top defender Myles Garrett to get insights on pass rushers.

Starting under center in the Browns’ first preseason game against the Panthers, Sanders did more than a respectable job even though he had no first-team reps prior to the game. And now, most recently, the former Colorado Buffaloes signal caller was seen having a long conversation with reigning Super Bowl Champion, Jalen Hurts.

Jalen Hurts’ Invaluable Experience

With the Browns taking on the Eagles in week 2 of the preseason, both teams held a joint practice on Wednesday. It was at this time that Sanders was seen speaking with the Eagles’ quarterback on the field.

While the exact nature of the conversation is unknown, Hurts, when speaking to the media, mentioned that the rookie had come to him to talk about things. Hurts shared his perspective with Sanders and told him how he has handled everything since entering the league.

“I’ll keep the conversation intimate. We had a very lengthy conversation,” Hurts said. “He came to me and just wanted to talk. I’m always there, I said earlier, giving my perspective on what I see and how I’ve gone about things. Ultimately, it takes a great deal of patience and hard work and a sense of resilience. You gotta want it. You gotta want it. And so, I’m supporting him from where I am and wishing him nothing but the best with this opportunity.”

Following the conversation, Hurts was also seen giving Sanders a ride back to the locker rooms on a golf cart. Incidentally, Sanders suffered an oblique injury during practice and is now being seen as day-to-day with the belief that he will most certainly miss the preseason’s week 2 game against Philly.

Browns fans will be eager to know in which direction the team decides to go once the regular season starts. As of now, Flacco is still the frontrunner for the starting role, but Sanders is stating his case. Which one will win the job?
