Seattle Storm vs Phoenix Mercury WNBA Prediction & Best Bets- 08/17/2025

Shubham Singh

On Sunday, August 17, the Seattle Storm (17-17) will host the Phoenix Mercury (19-13) in a WNBA regular-season match-up.

The Mercury lost their last battle 83-86 against the Las Vegas Aces despite a 26-point outing by Satou Sabally. They were outrebounded 30-39 and lost despite making 10 triples compared to just 4 by LV.

On the other hand, the Storm had an 80-78 win against the Atlanta Dream. Skylar Diggins sizzled with 21 points and 11 assists as the Storm broke a six-game losing streak, playing in Canada.

The Mercury is precariously holding to the fourth spot while the Storm has slipped to eighth position.

Can the Storm build on this momentum against a falling Mercury? Check the predictions related to player props, total, and spread here.

Seattle Storm vs Phoenix Mercury Total Over/Under Prediction- WNBA Best Bets

The Storm has one of the most inconsistent offenses in the league. They barely go past 80 on many occasions, something which needs to be fixed soon.

Defensively, they were together before, restricting teams below 80, but have given up 85 or more in four out of the last five games.

The Mercury usually scores from the early to mid-80s, but they have struggled like the Storm, too. On the other hand, they have one of the best defenses, like the Minnesota Lynx.

They had limited teams to 74 or fewer in four of the last five games.

Overall, this can be the making of a low-scoring game.

Seattle Storm vs Phoenix Mercury Player Props Predictions- WNBA Betting Picks

Alyssa Thomas O 8.5 Rebounds: Thomas is tallying 8.6 rebounds per game. She has nabbed 6 and 8 rebounds in the last two games, respectively.

Before that, the all-around genius had pinned down double-digit rebounds in eight straight games. I see her grabbing at least 9 again.

Syklar Diggins O 5.5 Assists: The Storm guard has seen a dip in her scoring but has continued to be a stellar playmaker.

She has delivered at least 6 helpers in four of the last five games, a theme I expect to continue.

Natasha Mack O 5.5 Rebounds: Mack was recently included in the starting lineup as a medium-minutes player with a rough-and-tough approach.

She is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game, grabbing 6 in three of the last five games. I expect something similar here.

Main pick: Alyssa Thomas O 8.5 Rebounds at BetMGM

Seattle Storm vs Phoenix Mercury Spread Prediction

The Storm is in a precarious position these days. Their inability to close out games has been concerning. For instance, five of their latest six defeats were by 4 points or less.

Even their latest win was by just two points, and the team was outscored 13-23 in the final quarter. On the other hand, Mercury has also played underwhelming basketball.

Their lineup changes have made them more vulnerable than before. Hence, it is a meeting between two out-of-sync teams.

At any rate, I’d favor the Mercury to get it done in what can be a triple-double performance by AT.

Spread/Money Line Pick:  Money Line: Mercury at BetMGM
