On Tuesday, August 5, the Seattle Storm (16-13) will host the Minnesota Lynx (24-5) in a WNBA regular-season game. The Storm have slipped to the sixth position while the Lynx remain at the top with no one in sight.
The Storm suffered another close loss, losing 74-78 against the Indiana Fever. Gabby Williams missed a game-tying three with five seconds left as the team shot a poor 2-15 from the three-point line.
On the other hand, the Lynx completed a historic 53-point win against the Las Vegas Aces as Kayla McBride nailed 8 out of 8 triples in the first half itself. However, the joy of the win was deflated by Napheesa Collier’s nasty injury.
Will the MVP frontrunner, Collier, be available for this heated battle? Check the predictions related to player props, total, and spread here.
Seattle Storm
Storm Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Skylar Diggins | SG: Erica Wheeler | SF: Gabby Williams | PF: Nneka Ogwumike | C: Ezi Magbebor
Key bench players: SG: Tiffany Mitchell, C: Dominique Malonga.
Injuries/Updates: Katie Lou Samuelson is OUT for the season.
Minnesota Lynx
Lynx Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Courtney Williams | SG: Kayla McBride | SF: Bridget Carlson | PF: Jessica Shepard | C: Alanna Smith
Key bench players: PG: Natisha Hiedeman, SF: DiJonai Carrington (Probable)
Injuries/Updates: Napheesa Collier IS OUT FOR TWO WEEKS. The Lynx acquired DiJonai Carrington for Diamond Miller and Karlie Samuelson.
The Storm is one of the most inefficient teams despite a loaded lineup. They haven’t clicked as a unit these days. On the defensive end, they can be strong, limiting squads below 80, which has kept their campaign afloat.
On the other hand, the Lynx has been red-hot on the offensive end. They have scored 91 or more in five of the last seven games. On the other hand, they hold teams under 80 regularly. Overall, we can be in for a low-scorer, especially if Collier is out.
Total: Under 156.5 for -110 at BetMGM
Here is an overview of my selections
| Picks | BetMGM Odds |
| Total U 156.5 | -110 |
| Spread- Storm -2.5 | -105 |
| Nneka Ogwumike O 16.5 Points | -120 |
| Money Line- Storm | -130 |
Nneka Ogwumike O 17.5 Points: Ogwumike has scored 18 PPG and had 16 in the last game. Before that, she had scored 18 or more in three straight. I believe she will come up with such a performance again.
Kayla McBride O 2.5 3-Pointers: The Lynx guard has converted 3 or more long-range bombs in five of the last six games. I expect her to do something similar again.
Gabby Williams O 4.5 Assists: The Storm guard has dished 4.5 APG, but has delivered 5 or more helpers in four of the last six games. I believe she will drop at least 5 dimes here.
Main pick: Nneka Ogwumike O 16.5 points for -120 at BetMGM
The Lynx would have been the obvious favorites if Collier were deemed active here. However, her health status complicates things. Seattle has been a huge disappointment lately and needs to pull their socks up.
They can’t underestimate that they are without Collier, as Carrington can be potentially available here. At any rate, I expect the Storm to put the monkey off their back and get the win here.
Spread/Money Line Pick: Spread: Storm -2.5 for -105 at BetMGM

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
