Seattle Storm Playoff Prospects
The Seattle Storm had a strong start to the season, but their form dipped after the WNBA all star break. A six-game skid in July put them in danger, but they stabilized with the recent winning streak.
The Storm have secured three consecutive wins recently, and currently hold the sixth position in the league standings. With only a few games remaining in the schedule, Seattle will battle against teams such as the Mystics, Valkyries, Fever, and Sparks for the playoff spots.
Across the season, the Seattle Storm have been a defense-first, .500 level side. They sit near league average in scoring at 82.4 PPG, with a top-three defense (100.9 defensive rating). One of the primary problems contributing to their mid-season downturn has involved inefficiencies in half-court sets along with spacing concerns.

Seattle’s offensive unit falls into the mid-to-lower tier in terms of efficiency, while their perimeter shooting volume remains average at around 7.4 threes made per game on 22.2 attempts (33.4%). Opponents have maintained a rebounding advantage (35.9% over more than 30 games), which generates additional second-chance opportunities against a team that defends effectively on the initial shot attempt.
With a top three-defense, Seattle should create more pressure against opponents with Williams and Sykes at the point of attack to trigger transition. Lineup rotations that combine Magbegor alongside a versatile forward and a sizable guard (such as Williams or Sykes) could further help in stabilizing the rebounding efforts.
The Seattle Storm have remaining matches against the Indiana Fever, Minnesota Lynx, Chicago Sky, Los Angeles Sparks, New York Liberty, and the Golden State Valkyries. All opponents except for the Sky are actively engaged in the battle for playoff positions.
This setup will present a demanding sequence of games for the Storm in the coming days. However, they are still placed better for the post-season qualification because of their strong start. ESPN’s BPI Index has pegged Seattle’s playoff chances at 95.3%.
