Sacramento Kings Considering DeMar DeRozan Trade Amid Aggressive Pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga This Offseason

Multiple teams are circling DeMar DeRozan amid Sacramento’s behind-the-scenes push for Golden State’s young star

The Sacramento Kings are interested in acquiring the services of Jonathan Kuminga. They are looking to build a young squad and the Warriors forward is one among those that the front office wants to add this off season.

However, DeMar DeRozan who plays in the same position in Sacramento could be shown the door. But only if Kuminga signs with Sacramento. DeRozan is ready to begin a new chapter in his basketball career.

Allen Stiles reports DeRozan has a handshake trade agreement with the Kings, pending Kuminga’s arrival. The youngster has already turned down two offers from Golden State.

A sign-and-trade deal is in talks, but Kuminga’s agent demands over $20 million, far above Golden State’s $15 million offer. This has added further complexity towards a deal frustrating both the parties who wish to move on from the extending saga.

Veteran DeRozan’s Options Running Thin

The market for DeMar DeRozan is complicated according to Evan Sidery. Few sides have shown interest in the 35-year-old, which makes a trade more complicated. The Miami Heat have surfaced repeatedly in DeRozan’s trade rumors.

Pat Riley is looking to strengthen his side by making short term changes. And recent proposals have included sending Terry Rozier and two second round picks. While, the San Antonio Spurs are also reportedly interested in the forward.

The roster lacks veteran leadership and consistent mid range offense. DeMar’s playoff experience and the ability to slow the game would complement Wembanyama’s athleticism.

The Atlanta Hawks have also emerged as a potential side given Trae Young needs a complimentary scoring threat. The 36-year-old’s isolation prowess and midrange shots would ease the burden off Trae Young. The Hawks can offer future picks and role players in exchange for the expiring contract.
