Dallas Mavericks: According to Westbrook’s play style, the Mavericks make most sense for the veteran. Russell Westbrook Linked With Rebuilding Rosters

Phoenix Suns: According to reports, the Suns are desperate to add Russell Westbrook. The front office has made massive changes with the roster and see the 36-year-old as a temporary upgrade who can steady the team’s tempo and ball movement. With Jalen Green still a raw talent, Westbrook could step in and out, balancing the team strategy.

Boston Celtics: Celtics similar to the Phoenix Suns had a bloating roster and the front office decided to reduce it significantly with multiple trades. The 18 time NBA champions now have a slim roster and are looking to add short term contracts. Russell Westbrook could be a perfect option for the East side.

Detroit Pistons: The Pistons are also looking to sign Russell Westbrook. They pushed back into the 2024–25 playoffs after a five-year drought, leaning heavily on youngster Cade Cunningham. Schroder’s exit opens the door for Westbrook to slot in as Detroit’s experienced secondary playmaker. They also have the flexibility to absorb a veteran minimum or modest mid-level exception deal.
