Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka have both booked their spots at the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh, marking the fifth consecutive year they’ve qualified for the season-ending championship. In doing so, they become the first pair since Petra Kvitova and Agnieszka Radwanska (2011-2015) to achieve five straight Finals appearances, underlining their dominance and consistency at the top of the women’s game.

Era-Defining Consistency of Current World No. 1 and 2

Qualification for the WTA Finals is never straightforward. With just eight single berths, which are earned solely on year-long performance across all surfaces. Injuries, scheduling issues, and the unpredictability of the round-robin format have often derailed top seeds. Yet from 2021 through 2025, Swiatek and Sabalenka have made constant appearances in the final eight.

For Swiatek, the streak includes her breakthrough triumph at the 2023 WTA Finals in Cancun, where she swept past Jessica Pegula to lift the title. The Pole had fallen short in earlier appearances in 2021 and 2022 but is the sport’s most consistent force by pairing multi-major seasons with steady race points. The 24-year-old now owns six Grand Slam titles and has enjoyed a prolonged stay at world No. 1 in the past. Currently, world No. 2.

Sabalenka’s path has been equally formidable. The Belarusian, a four-time Grand Slam champion, has led the 2025 Race since the US Open win, building on a season that saw her end Swiatek’s 26-match Roland Garros win streak and contest her first Paris final. Despite never winning the WTA Finals, her best run was a runner-up finish in 2022.

Their shared milestone places them alongside Kvitova and Radwanska, who qualified five times in succession from 2011-2015, with Radwanska famously defeating Kvitova in the 2015 Singapore final. Just as that duo helped anchor an unpredictable field a decade ago, Swiatek and Sabalenka now form the cornerstone of the tour’s current era.

From November 1 to 8, 2025, the season-ending WTA Finals will unfold on indoor hard courts at the King Saud University Indoor Arena in Riyadh.
