Real Betis and Juventus Express Interest in Real Madrid Midfielder Dani Ceballos

Dani Ceballos has grown increasingly concerned about his role under new Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso.

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is once again at the centre of transfer speculation this summer. There have been familiar links to a return to his boyhood club Real Betis. Meanwhile, Serie A giants Juventus have also emerged as seruous contenders to sign the Spanish international. Ceballos has grown increasingly concerned about his role under new Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso.

The 28-year old featured for just 73 minutes during Real Madrid’s recent Club World Cup campaign. While former boss Carlo Ancelotti often expressed his admiration for the midfielder, Alonso appears less convinced of Ceballos’ role within his plans. Upon returning from the United States, Ceballos himself admitted that he is “open to anything” this summer.

Real Betis Revive Interest in Ceballos

Real Betis have made contact with Real Madrid regarding the possibility of bringing Ceballos back to Seville. According to reports in Spain, Betis would favour a loan move, but Real Madrid are insistent that any departure must be permanent, with an asking price of €20 million. President Angel Haro recently said that the move would be “almost impossible” due to financial constraints but Betis still remain keen to explore a potential deal.

Additionally, Betis would face significant hurdles fitting Ceballos’ salary into their existing wage structure. Nevertheless, discussions have taken place, and the door remains open for further negotiations as the summer window progresses.

Juventus Monitoring Situation

Italian giants Juventus have now entered the picture as a serious alternative destination for Ceballos. With Douglas Luiz having departed and Weston McKennie potentially following him out of Turin, Juventus are actively searching for midfield reinforcements. Currently, Manuel Locatelli and new signing Khephren Thuram stand as the club’s only recognised defensive midfielders.

Real Betis’ financial limitations could ultimately leave the door open for Juventus to win the race for his signature. The Old Lady’s resources are far better placed to meet Madrid’s valuation and the player’s wage demands. Ceballos still has two years left on his contract with Real Madrid and retains ambitions of representing Spain at the 2026 World Cup. Within the Madrid dressing room, Ceballos remains a valued presence due to his professionalism and work-rate.
