Phoenix Suns vs Sacramento Kings Predictions, Odds and Best Bets for 10/22/2025

Garima Ranawat

The Phoenix Suns are set to begin their NBA 2025-26 season with fiery determination after a rocky 36-46 campaign that missed the playoffs. While their roster features Devin Booker and blockbuster acquisition Jalen Green, they will be without Kevin Durant, who was traded to the Houston Rockets in a historical trade that sent Green to the Suns. Moreover, Green will also be out due to his hamstring injury that kept him out of the entire preseason.

Up against the Suns will be the Sacramento Kings, led by DeMar DeRozan, featuring Russell Westbrook, who was signed recently in the offseason. After finishing the 2024-25 season with a 40-42 record and falling short in the Play-In, the Kings will seek a strong start of the brand new campaign.

Rationale and Analysis

The Phoenix Suns are undoubtedly one of the most struggling teams in the league for quite some time now. They have been trying to build a team which is capable of contending for the championship, but haven’t even come close. Their approaches fail to work, and hence, this season, they are aiming for a different milestone. Having finished the previous season at the 11th spot, I think the Suns’ current focus should be around making it to the playoffs, let alone winning a title.

They will be without star names including Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant, who left via a buyout and a historic trade, respectively. Moreover, they enter the 2025-26 season under Jordan Ott, the former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach. While it is going to be his first assignment as a head coach, Ott carries a strong reputation from his previous role. However, the signing of Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green are expected to ease the offensive burden on Devin Booker.

The Kings, on the other hand, traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a multi-team trade for Zach LaVine. They added Nique Clifford and Maxime Rayanaud in the draft, and went on to sign free agent Dennis Schroder. For the front court, they have Dario Sacric and Drew Eubanks.

Devin Booker played in three of the Suns’ four preseason games and posted scores of 24, 18 and 18 points, respectively. Playing at home with a similar setup could help Booker to ignite the offense and post over 28 points.

DeMar DeRozan posted 22.2 points on an average for the Kings in the previous season. Moreover, the Kings are expected to capitalize on the Suns’ disorganized defense without Green. DeRozan could push for a similar performance.

The under 227.5 points seems like a good bet considering that both teams could aim for a slower approach and steadily build on their games offensively as the season progresses.

Phoenix Suns vs Sacramento Kings Prediction

The Phoenix Suns almost had a flawless preseason where they recorded three wins while the Kings could manage to grab only one victory. Again, the preseason isn’t a measuring stick to a team’s efficiency, it could help them get into momentum. In the upcoming game, they will be without Jalen Green, and in that scenario Devin Booker is expected to step up and fuel their offense.

On the other hand, the Kings are stepping into the regular season with a star-studded lineup. The lineup consisting of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Russell Westbrook and Dennis Shroder is expected to deliver remarkable performances. They have added Drew Eubanks, Dario Saric while re-signing Doug McDermott and Keegan Murray.

Considering the larger picture, the Suns are confident, excited and seem focused to begin the season on a stronger note. Devin Booker’s regular season dominance further adds to the odds, making them favorites to win the opener.

Prediction: Phoenix Suns to win.
