The Phoenix Suns traded Kevin Durant to Houston Rockets.
The Phoenix Suns announced the trade of their star forward Kevin Durant to Houston Rockets on Sunday, June 22. ESPN Insider Shams Charania dropped a bombshell and announced the multi-player trade which got the Suns Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks. Notably, Durant was traded from the Brooklyn Nets in 2023 in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johsnon, Jae Crowder and a few draft picks.

The 2014 NBA MVP was in trade talks for most of the season. Earlier, during the NBA Trade deadline in February 2025, there were reports that he would be traded to the Golden State Warriors. However, Durant himself squashed the rumors and said that he was not interested in going back to the franchise he was a part of from 2016 to 2019.
The two-time NBA Finals MVP is entering his 18th NBA season, and in 2024-25, he finished the season with an average of 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He was shooting 52.7% from the field and 43% from the three-point range. However, despite having the star trio of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns finished the season at 11th spot with a below-par tally of 36-46.
The 15-time NBA All-Star will prove to be a huge asset for the Rockets, who finished the season as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. He would certainly prove to be the missing piece for the team which needs to make a final push for the NBA Championships. It is to be noted that the Rockets were knocked out of the playoffs in Round 1 by the Golden State Warriors 4-3.
