Phoenix Suns field trade calls for Kevin Durant ahead of trade deadline

Kevin Durant is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game.

The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching and it seems that Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis and De’Aaron Fox may not be the only stars to move to other teams before Feb. 6. After the shocking trade of Luka Doncic moving to the Los Angeles Lakers, fans could see another surprising move soon. The Phoenix Suns are pursuing Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, and even the six-time NBA All-Star has addressed the rumors with his Suns-coded shoes and sometimes via his Instagram stories

However, while Suns, the eighth-seeded team in the Western Conference, would have wanted to commence the deal in a better way, Heat’s view of Butler handling the situation and Bradley Beal not wanting to waive his no-trade clause has made things a bit difficult for the Suns.

To make Jimmy Butler’s trade a seamless process, the Suns have reportedly come up with a back-up plan that could see their 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant leave. As per NBA reporter Jake Fischer, if the franchise fails to secure Butler, they could pivot to trading Durant.

While the reports have surfaced, when teams, including the Golden State Warriors, inquired about the availability of Durant, the Suns made it clear that they are not actively looking to move him. According to the media, they have told the Warriors that neither Durant nor Devin Booker is available.

Golden State Warriors interested in acquiring Kevin Durant

Among all the teams that reached out to Suns for Durant, the Golden State Warriors were one of the most intriguing sides. As per Clutch Point’s Brett Siegel, the side contacted the Suns for a potential blockbuster deal involving their former star.

While the Suns haven’t been able to perform despite having names like Durant, Beal and Booker, the 36-year-old has been delivering excellent performance. Durant, who played three seasons with the Warriors, is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game.

Though the Warriors have expressed their interest, they are highly unlikely to get Durant as they don’t have enough trade assets. The Steph Curry side is currently 24-24 in the season.
