Ottawa Senators Recall Angus Crookshank and Jan Jenik to NHL Roster

Ottawa bolsters its lineup by calling up forwards Crookshank and Jeník ahead of their next game.

The Ottawa Senators are making some last-minute roster adjustments ahead of their game against the Winnipeg Jets tonight. With Brady Tkachuk and Shane Pinto unavailable, the team has called up forwards Angus Crookshank and Jan Jenik from their AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators. Even though the team had a brief three-day break following their return from the 4 Nations Face-Off, they still needed some extra reinforcements.

Luckily, it seems like this won’t be a long-term change. Reports from Ottawa suggest that both Tkachuk and Pinto took part in the team’s optional skate this morning, which is a good sign that they’ll be back in action soon. For now, Crookshank and Jenik will step in and get their chance to contribute at the NHL level.

Jenik has already suited up for Ottawa this season. The former top prospect for the Arizona Coyotes joined the Senators organization in a trade this past offseason. However, his offensive numbers have dipped this year, with seven goals and 13 points in 30 games for Belleville. That’s a noticeable drop from his previous production, where he averaged 0.72 points per game over five seasons with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners.

Meanwhile, Crookshank has been having a solid season in the AHL. He leads Belleville in goals, scoring 18 times and collecting 33 points in 48 games. The 2018 fourth-round pick made his NHL debut last season, and if he plays tonight, it will be his first game with the Senators since April 2, 2024. With both players looking to make an impact, this could be a great opportunity for them to prove they belong at the NHL level.
