The Oklahoma City Thunder dominated courts and their rivals throughout the season. On the back of a splendid campaign, they became the second team to secure a playoff berth in 2024-25. Later, their spot was backed by them securing the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed. With this, the Thunder became the second youngest team to secure the top seed in NBA history, just behind last year’s Thunder.

Earlier known as the Seattle SuperSonics, the team was founded in 1967, and moved to Oklahoma City after the 2007-08 season. Overall, the Thunder made it to 34 playoffs in 58 seasons, while clinching the berth 12 times in 17 seasons ever since their move. They have played a total of 69 playoff series, and won 37 of them, making a 51.5 winning percentage.

In the first-round series of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, the Thunder swept Memphis Grizzlies to seamlessly make it to the Western Conference Semifinals.

In their second-round, the Thunder had a tough fight from Denver Nuggets but survived with a 4-3 scoreline. They became the West champions for the first time since 2012 when they beat the Timberwolves 4-1 in the WCF series.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has made it to the NBA Playoffs for a total of 22 times in its 41 seasons as the Seattle SuperSonics. Overall, the franchise has been to 34 playoffs in its 58 season in the league.

When Was the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Last Playoffs Appearance?

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s last playoff appearance came in 2025. They finished the 2024-25 season with the NBA-best record of 68-14 record, and booked the top spot in the Western Conference.

In the first round, they handed a 4-0 defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies. With a seamless win, they advanced to the conference semifinals, and edged out the Denver Nuggets in seven-game thriller. Later, they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the WCF series to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have won only one NBA Championship, as the Seattle SuperSonics in 1978-79. They finished the regular season with a 52-30 record, and the playoffs with a 12-5 record.

They advanced to the NBA Finals by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals and the Phoenix Suns 4-3 in the Western Conference Finals. In the NBA Finals, they clashed against the Washington Bullets. Though they had an unfavorable start to their campaign in the finals, the SuperSonics were quick to bounce back.

They recorded four wins to win the NBA championship 4-1.
