Odell Beckham Jr. Released by Dolphins, Seeks Fresh NFL Opportunity

OBJ and the Dolphins mutually part ways after a challenging season. Beckham now seeks a fresh start with potential interest from former teams.

The Miami Dolphins and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have decided to part ways, as reported by NFL Media. Miami is releasing Beckham, and the three-time Pro Bowler is now seeking a fresh start with another team.

Beckham will remain on waivers until Monday, and if no team claims him, he’ll be free to sign with any of the league’s 31 other teams. Potential destinations include the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams, both of which are playoff contenders and former teams of his.

Beckham, 32, is still owed roughly $200,000 this season after signing a one-year, $3 million contract with the Dolphins in May. He began the 2024 NFL season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and didn’t play until October 5. Since returning, Beckham has played 33 snaps over three games but hasn’t recorded a single catch.

Behind star receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Beckham struggled to find a significant role in Miami’s offense. He was also far from meeting his performance incentives, which required him to notch 36 receptions, 566 yards, and 4 touchdowns this season.

Odell Beckham Jr. Possible Landing Spots

Beckham Jr. has played just one season or less with his last three teams. He joined the Rams in 2021 after leaving the Cleveland Browns, where he spent a little over two years. After tearing his ACL in the Super Bowl, he missed the entire 2022 season.

The Ravens signed him to a one-year, $18 million deal in 2023, but released him in March. Over his career, he has 575 catches for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns in 119 games, including 97 starts. Beckham will be on waivers until Monday, and if he clears, he can sign with any of the 31 other teams.
